We came home to trips on the ground after a big cheese sale today. (The Houstonian!!)
They had nursed, but we are going to bottle feed the rest of the colostrum.
It has some weird clear mucousy looking threads in it. What is this? Is it a sign of mastitis?
    We've just never seen this.
I'll get a photo if it will help.
    Thanks!

Ok-- went and touched the "threads" and they had no structure - it is just thickened slime...still not sure what it is, tho...anyone?

Did you dry cow the doe? You can see oil on colostrum if she has been dry cowed. How old is the doe? Vicki

She's 4 and did not kid last year. When you say dry cow, do you mean Tomorrow? She got that when we dried her last year - last January - but she was open all year in 2007.
