I have a doe that I'm battling some scar tissue with. It's in her teat from a bad cut a couple of months back. I'm using Keretilin wax teat plugs, and as most dariy products, these are made for cows. They are about an 1 to 1 1/2 long, and I've been trimming them to about half that when I insert them. Has anyone else done this? They just seem so long to be poking up there! I do feel like I'm sacrificing the plug being sterile by taking it out of the package, cutting it on a cutting board, taking it out to the barn...etc. Any thoughts? Thanks! To trim or not trim?
Around an 1 1/2 to 2 inches...they just always say that when you stick up a cannula, you are only supposed to go like a 1/4 of an inch so you don't cause damage to the teat... That's why I was concerned.
but candula's are hard and this wax plug isn't tho I have never used it would think your compromising it unless super super clean when cutting sterilizing everything. send a pm to Kaye and see what she says.
