:??? I have a two week old doeling that has developed a little udder that is about the size of a golf ball and it has milk in it. None of my other doelings have ever had this. Is this unusual? Is it a problem? :thankyou Kristin
i wouldn't know about goats, but i know it is possible for human babies to have milk... both boys and girls when they are newborn.... its all about mothers hormones. Maybe its the same with goats?
don't ever milk out a doeling like this to test. they have hormones and will develope little udders but leave them alone in the furture. Your just asking for mastitis by opening those orifaces
Well, perhaps some doelings just develop it then. No, I didn't take any out to test! Thanks for the advice! Kristin
What I meant was I wouldn't milk her at all to even see if she had milk. I leave them alone. But yes is rather common for youngins to develop little udders
