How do you add color to your soaps?

I purchased a violet mica, and I'm having trouble getting it to mix in without achieving a really heavy trace. Do you mixit it with something before adding it to the soap?

    Thanks,
    PJ

  2. I sometimes mix mica with water ( just a tablespoon of water or less) then add it.

I mix it with water first.

Do not mix it with goat milk for swirls! I did one time, and the goat milk carmelized and oozed out of my swirls leaving big ugly craters lined with brown goat milk goo! YUCK! It was ugly. :lol

I mix micas with a little oil first and then incorporate it into a couple of tablespoons of soap... Mixing it strong enough with the soap to get the color I want..

I also mix the micas with a little bit of oil.

My trouble is that I don't usually mix it quite strong enough and my soap turns out too light. :blush
