Can someone remind me exactly why you can't give oral thiamin for polio? I was talking with someone about it. I can't find what I had read before. I know they can't absorb it, right?

they don't absorb or at least fast enough to do any good with polio you need preferably injectable B1 thiamin

I assume it is like using lots of other stuff. The rumen renders a lot of it unusable. So they would not get enough of it I am thinking. Plus not fast enough.
