Microscope question

    I really want to do my own fecals and I saw a microscope at a local pawn shop for $50. I ddin't get it because I wasn't sure it had all I needed. In the do your own fecals in goatkeeping 101 it says that the microscope should preferably have it's own light source.

    It's been awhile since I've used one - since HS! so do the have a light underneath the place you put the slide or what?

    any help would be greatly appreciated!

    How about the ones that barr5 semen has been advertising ..are they any good?

    The light source is a electric bulb that sets at the bottom of the micro (under the slide table) and shines much like a flashlight would upward.

    Try to get one thats power ranges are between 40X to 400X .

    A mechanical sliding table is best because you move the slide around by using knobs.......but you don't just have to have that feature to run fecals, but I find it much easier to use.
