I was wondering if anyone uses medicated goat feed. My husband thinks we need it and I know you can't use it when you are milking for human consumption.... the neighbors all have goats, Boer goats, I have 2 saanens and 3 Boers, and the Boers will be for meat goats. (not my does though)
I was just wondering if anyone knows about the medicated feed and when to use, and when not to use.
any information will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Debbie

Here's the kicker with the medicated feed.
Go to Goat Keeping 101 find the coccidia drugs and doses...http://dairygoatinfo.com/index.php?topic=65.0 ,make a note, before you go buy any of the feed on what the required doses are for feed through amounts.
Lasalocid-20 to 30 g per ton
Monensin 10-30 gram/ton of feed

It is done every 3 weeks along with a feed containing Monensin-20g/ton. The recommended dose of Monensin in feed is 10-30g/ton.
I have tried to use the feed containing Decoquinate but they just didn't seem to like the feed.
NOTE* after this was posted...Both feeds were changed and goat refused to eat them! I went to 5 day treatments every 19-21 days and kids still grew off fantastic in 2006.
I tried the feed through feeds and I wasn't happy with the way the kids ate it...also didn't like the amount of coccidia eggs I found while they were on it.
