Is this CL?!

I have two goats. They are never around any other goats. They are both 6 years old. Each has had a pus filled lump on their cheek, just behind their lips. Do you think this is CL? I lanced the other one's lump about 2 weeks ago. I didn't get any of the pus on anything. I cleaned her up with betadine. Now this one had the same thing. They are supposed to be going to get bred at the end on the month, but I won't take them until I have them tested.

Hi, sounds like it is something contagious to goats if they both seem to hav got it.. hmmm.. u kno I’m really not sure so I can’t really help uI hav not experienced CL in my goats. And haven’t read on much abt it! I suggest if u don’t get more answers soon I would join the goat spot! There definitely is people on there tht can help u.. I kno for sure..
Cl puss is usually thick consistency and it is odorless. I have a doe with cl. We jus drain her abscess put her in quarantine and then after we are certain she is cleared she goes back with the herd. All the big sheep and goat farmers around us all have cl in their herd and they all say it isn't that big of a deal.
That does not look like a CL abscess. It just looks like something poked her in the cheek. CL abscesses are near the lymph nodes.
The only way to know for sure is to test the pus.

If you have any other goats I would QT these guys but it is likely too late as they have already popped. I would send in samples of the abscess and get it tested for CL. It is better to be safe than sorry when you are dealing with abscesses.

It could just be a poke as well and it got infected with something like staph.
Be sure to use gloves and wash down everything. But I agree that the location of the bump is not typical for CL.

Still plenty of other nasty things that could be a problem.
