I am out of town (returning tonight). The person milking for me called this morning to say one of my does is not wanting to put weight on one of her back legs. There is no apparent cut, swelling or heat on the leg. She reluctantly got on the milk stand but her opposite leg got some fatigued standing there. The doe seemed fine yesterday when she was milked. Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks. Paula

She could have twisted it or been butted by another doe. She could have something stuck between her cleats or picked up a nail in her hoof. Goats get abcesses, hoof rot and the like also.

Thank you for the reply. She seems to be much better. When things like that happen do you give anything for pain or just let the healing process take place?
