Hey all, I have been really busy lately trying to put together a comprehensive medicine cabinet.....didn't like driving around at 1am to other folks homes last year to get emergency meds..... :sigh In addition to having them on hand, I want to put together a listing of dosages and uses. Goat 101 has been great but, I have a few questions on Dex.....Could I get a list of some uses?

    Thanks,

    Paula

Dex is invaluable in the treatment of PEM when used in conjunction with Thiamin it reduces brain swelling and prevents nerve damage. It will also induce labor, and help in the treatment of pneumonia by reducing inflammation in the lungs and therefore reducing fluid. In short it is a wonder drug but has serious side effects if used incorrectly. When an doe has been on Dexamethasone for more than one or two doses she should be weaned off the drug slowly.
