I'm going to try to make salt bars for the first time and have come up with this simple recipe:

    16 oz coconut oil
5.3 oz vegetable (or perhaps olive) oil
    5.3 oz goat milk
    3.0 oz lye
    16 oz salt

Does this seem to be a reasonable starting point? (I've run the recipe through a lye calc for amounts). Is there anything I should watch for (other than cut as soon as I can)? I'm adding the veggie/olive oil for superfatting to counteract the coconut. Will it lather at least a little bit? Do I scent at the usual .7-1oz/ppo? Or should I scent differently because of the salt?

    Thanks.

What did you set your superfat to? I set mine at 20% and add no liquid oil.

I set it at 20%, but I used the veggie oil for superfatting. Should I just do straight coconut and skip the liquid oil? Or, conversely, if I had the liquid oil, what will that do to my bar?

    Thanks.
