Ok, I know that I read something, somewhere, on this board about ACV, even though after searching I cannot find it now! Anyhow, was at Sam's Club tonight and found a large bottle (a gallon, I think) of the real stuff (sediment on the bottom and all) for just over $4. So I thought I'd share my find and then ask what it is generally used for, since I remember reading about it but not what it was for. Ugh. My daily dose of humility. :blush Tracy, we want that recipe!! :biggrin
Re: Apple Cider Vinegar I use it in their water, oh about a glug every other day (if I remember). It's good for the body, keeps the mosquito population down in the barn and it keeps algae growth at bay for the tubs out in the pasture. You could do a Google search for all the nifty things ACV does. BTW.. unless you douche your goats with it, it won't be the cause to have loads of doelings! :rofl
Re: Apple Cider Vinegar A friend of mine thats into natural stuff uses it for her goat but I don't remember why. I think I was asking her if her goats had worms about the time ACV came up? I could be way off on that?
Re: Apple Cider Vinegar Well ACV is a good immune builder and algae blocker, but does nothing for worms or cocci or sex of kids.
Re: Apple Cider Vinegar BELIEVE ME I have tried I used it faithfully with my first two goats and goat two bucks
Re: Apple Cider Vinegar "I used it faithfully with my first two goats and goat two bucks" Haha... that's funny!
Re: Apple Cider Vinegar I also use it in my bucks water to help keep urinary calculi a bay. At any rate it is good for the goats. And my goats love it. Les
Re: Apple Cider Vinegar I'ts flulff Use the elchepo white vinegar to keep the algea down in your water, keep the good ACV for single stomached animals where the bacteria can live through a single stomach. You, your dogs etc...Vicki
Re: Apple Cider Vinegar I never found the vinegar to keep the algae down. Maybe I don't use enough? I tried the white vinegar and the goats didn't like it. Maybe it is just my goats. Les
Re: Apple Cider Vinegar I figured out where I had read about it...on a chicken board and not on this one! Sheesh. :blush2
Well I make homemade pie crust, and lets see 2 cups flour, 3/4 cup crisco 1 t salt, 5 T of Cold water ( substitute some ACV here maybe 2 T ?) Oh Tracy..... I need to make a pie for the Tri state goat meeting Sunday.
I found this online. NEVER FAIL PIE CRUST 1 c. shortening 2 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. vinegar 1/3 c. milk Cut shortening into flour and salt. Add vinegar to milk. Combine at once with flour mixture. Makes pastry for 2 crust pie. This recipe never fails.
