I was wondering if ammonium chloride is safe for lactating does. I know they probably do not NEED it, but is it safe? I have no idea what it is, only that it helps the bucks not get some type of urinary stones.

Thanks a bunch--btw, thanks also for all the alfalfa info I received from everybody. I have, with your help, been able to boost production by about 30%. Now, what to do with all that milk...

It's fine, its a mineralized salt not a chemcial. Does don't need it because of the size of their urinary tract, but it won't hurt them. Most boer goat folks feed the same feed to their bucks and does. It also will not hurt milk production it also is a by-pass protein. Vicki
