Do any of you guys know anything about floating goats teeth??
One of my Nubian doe's has been losing weight, I've wormed her, and are graining her, yet she's still getting thinner and thinner... The other day she came up with an abscess right under her jaw, and she has been having great difficulty eating, she can eat grain ok, but she just can't seem to chew hay well. I separated her from my other goats cause I was worried she had CL or something. The other day I went out and she had a big chunk of hay just stuck part way down her throat and sticking out her mouth while drooling. Then we had a sudden thought that maybe it was her teeth, and that could have caused the abscess, and the loss of weight. So I got an old gag for floating horses teeth that I had, and opened her mouth with it. I shone a flashlight in her mouth and her teeth looked terrible! Her back teeth had horribly sharp jagged edges, I think it's not a wonder she can't eat well!
Anyhow I phoned the vet and they said they can't do it... I have been googling it so see if I can do it myself, but didn't find much info on floating goats teeth...
Do you think if I buy a mini horse teeth rasp, and get someone to help me, I could file them down myself..
or a dremel..?? we have a small dremel....
